There are, however, a
lot of male sexual health issues that
aren't actually issues at all. They are
perceived problems, which are fuelled by
testosterone-filled chats in the pub. Let's explore five male
sexual health issues:
Erectile dysfunction refers
to the condition whereby a man is unable to get
or sustain an erection for a period of time
allowing for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It
is estimated that around 18 million men in the
US alone suffer from
erectile dysfunction. The condition is more
common in older men, with half of all males
between 40 and 70 experiencing it to some
There are a range of causes
for erectile dysfunction including: high blood
pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, hormonal
problems and depression. Alcohol can also be a
contributing factor; so if you only experience
erectile dysfunction after a heavy drinking
session, that is probably the cause.
Fortunately, there are numerous drugs like
Sildenafil (sold as Viagra), which are very
effective in combating erectile dysfunction
Premature ejaculation is when
a man ejaculates too soon during sexual
intercourse or foreplay. It is the most common
of male sexual health issues and affects most
men at some time in their lives. However, many
men have acquired this belief from watching
pornography that they are supposed to last for
40 minutes. The reality however is that most men
do not last that long, but if you genuinely
think you are suffering from premature
ejaculation, revolutionary treatments like the
Climax Control Programme are extremely
Believe it or not, there are
actually men who suffer from prolonged or
delayed ejaculation during sexual intercourse.
However, the same guys often have no trouble
ejaculating while masturbating and so when the
issue only occurs during sex, it can be very
awkward for the man and the woman; with the
latter often feeling inadequate and melancholy.
For the guy, the situation leaves them feeling
incomplete and uncomfortable, which sees them
masturbate to fulfil themselves.
The term STIs or sexually
transmitted infections refers to any infection
that is transmitted through sexual contact.
However, it is not only via sexual intercourse
that these infections are spread and they may be
transmitted via oral sex, kissing, blood
transfusions and even from mother to infant.
Sexually transmitted infections are not only
embarrassing but also potentially dangerous to
our health. There are many different types and
the best advice is to seek help from a sexual
health clinic if you think that there's anything
wrong with your genitals.
This is probably the most
joked about male sexual issue there is and some
guys can feel inadequate when they read about
the 'average size'. For many years, this was
stated as being 6.5 inches but it has recently
come to light that this figure is probably
inaccurate, mainly due to the fact that the
measurements were obtained by guys themselves.
Most guys tend to add a little to the
measurement and other don't know the exact part
they're supposed to measure from.
